TRIL approves project in energy transition and will receive outstanding investment from CNPq/Brazil

Aimed at funding research projects around prospection and exploration of mineral resources and oil & natural gas, the CNPq Brazil CT-Petro 16/2022 Call will disburse up to R$ 10 million to boost the scientific, technological and innovation development in the country for the area.

TRIL Lab submitted a project on computational methods for the energy transition focused on CO2 geological storage and was awarded with funding for facilities, lab inputs, and grants that sum more than R$ 760,000 (around US$ 140,000). Managed by Prof. Gustavo Oliveira, the project, sent to the Call during September 2022, includes partners from five other national universities, three from the Northeast (UFCG, UEPB, and UFPE) and two from the Southeast (UERJ and UFRJ). Internationally, there are partner researchers from 3 institutions: China University of Petroleum, the Norwegian laboratory SINTEF, and the University of Texas at Austin.

The project is planned to last 36 months and start in 2023.
