Published on January 26th in the Fluids journal, the article Numerical Investigation of Gas Bubble Interaction in a Circular Cross-Section Channel in Shear Flow, authored by Daniel Barbedo Santos, a Ph.D. candidate in Mechanical Engineering at COPPE/Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, reflects the outcome of another collaborative effort within the scope of the CO2SS project led by TRIL. Focused on the numerical modeling of the interactive behavior between gas bubbles moving in confined circular channels, the research takes its initial steps toward understanding complex situations related to geological CO2 storage. This includes the dynamics of gas injection into wells and the phenomena of smaller-scale residual trapping within the rock. In addition to researchers from COPPE, the article involves contributors from State University of Rio de Janeiro, the University of Edinburgh, and TRIL, represented by Prof. Gustavo Oliveira.
